I can’t say there’s many more gay bars worth mentioning in Atlanta, but feel free to correct me if I’m wrong. It’s really fun but I rarely frequent it as I am a gay man ?♂️. There’s one lesbian bar in Midtown called My Sister’s Room. I guess it just depends what you’re looking for. I can’t say you’d be unsafe there, but you may not have a ball. Though I’ve seen younger crowds in there from time to time. These are the bars for the 45+ gays as I understand it. Just take good friends with you decide to visit these locations. These places are very focused on cis-men severing cis-men. I’ve brought non-cisgendered male friends to these locations, and random men have literally said, “why the fuck are you here?” Swinging Richards even has a policy that states no women are allowed in without a group of men (I never go anymore). I have no idea what the culture is regarding trans fellows.īe weary of Eagle (Leather/kink bar), Heretic (dark room action- more leather and kink), Bj Roosters (private dancers $20/song) and Swinging Richards (all nude male strip club). There’s Bull Dogs, which is a predominantly gay black bar, but obviously anyone is welcome. If you REALLY are feeling adventurous, maybe Midtown Moon, but I haven’t been back since it was named Burkhardt’s under different management. Mary’s Proudly referred to as East Atlanta’s gay dive bar, Mary’s was named by Logo Channel and Out Magazine as one of the best gay bars in the world. It’s a perfect place to catch up and relax. Especially when it comes to supporting the local baby queens. Friends For those seeking an easy-going, off-the-beaten path watering hole, Friends is a no-attitude bar with inexpensive drinks and pool tables.

I mention the drag nights because, even though drag is a bit more main stream these days, drag can bring out a more acccepting crowd. Another great option would be Mary’s in East Atlanta during the drag competition nights on Thursday hosted by Bridget Bidet. I would say that’s a better route for you personally. Even as a nerdy gay white guy, I don’t often feel like I fit in there.īlake’s is a bit more diverse and I occasionally meet trans folk there. Ten has more of the “white muscle tank top gay” vibe, if that’s what you’re in to, while Blake’s is a bit more diverse. I would say you’re going to feel more comfortable at Blake’s over Ten. Perhaps, more notoriously, during its run as the Atlanta Eaglea gay leather bar from 1987 to 2020the nightspot made headlines for a botched 2009 police raid, where members of the vice squad. Gay guy here that’s lived in Atlanta for the past 5 years.
